What an amazing weekend that was. For many of us it was just another troop but for some it was their first Nova. We had troopers who flew down from up north, some got their dad to drive 16hours over night and some just caught the train in. But the one thing that we all in had common that week was we gave it our best.
On Saturday after our first success full day of shaking our cans, we all sat down for some much needed rest and relaxation... until the drinks started flowing than it became a party. It was good seeing a united team drinking and laughing together. Some were dancing while others were taking peoples unattended phones and taking selfies with it (No not Gaugerage). Over all it was a great mixer, one for the books.
At the end of the 3 day event we raised $3651.10. Geek society added $125.15 and our good friends from Hire a Tardis came up with $785.00 on the nose. A total of $4561.25 was raised for the training and up keep of those amazing dogs at SmartPups. A round of drinks for all !!!!
We did get some Superstars visiting our stands, like Jason Mews (Jay and Silent Bob), our Honorary 501st Member Mark Raats and who could forget when Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley from Force Awakens) took a group photo with us. He also got help from our Galactic Academy kids to draw the winning ticket for the Mauldalorian Helmet. It was a blast for all of us.
A BIG THANK YOU for all those who attended and helped shake those cans.
