Toowoomba Christmas Wonderland (Day #1) - Bolt_2112 - Saturday 12-Dec-2015

Date: 11/12/15

Venue: Toowoomba Botanical Gardens, Queens Park

Time: 7:00 to 10:00 Pm

Mission: As "Costumers" our mission was to roam around the park and interact with the public and take lots of photo's!

Trooper Attendance: CT:33827 Bolt, TK:90579 Scotty33, DZ:4056 Stormraven, ID:20552 Mykill and Beccyd Wrangling.

Mission Status: Success!

Details: All shuttles touched down at the drop zone at or before 6:30 Pm despite lurking thunderstorms on the horizon. We had plenty of time to suit up before we marched into the park and then signed in. The Christmas Wonderland really did look great this year with the Lions Club putting on a great light show as always. I lead the troops on a scouting mission to determine a suitable command post (or just somewhere where it wasn't as dark so the troopers could see!) and the masses of civilians soon began to fill the park. Soon we were arresting people, checking ID and getting attacked by lightsabers as everyone (young and old) jumped in for a photo with us. This year most of the crowds recognized us as Star Wars characters, with only a few calling my Shock Trooper iron man or Stormraven's Garindan Darth Vader. Scotty got a balloon in the shape of a flower, or a dog? from the balloon tent and I got a candy cane from a little girl. The sausage sizzle crew wouldn't let us near the food as they said the empire causes too much trouble, clearly they don't know the peace that the empire brings to the galaxy! We also encountered 2 ninja turtles that seemed like they had a harder time seeing than we do and we found Wally (just have to find those droids next). Mykill and Beccyd did a fantastic job wrangling as for this troop they are essential, there are people everywhere!
We stopped for a group photo before we evacuated ..erm... tactically retreated... to the landing craft and returned home (after swinging by McDonald's) as the thunderstorms came back and drenched the city. Looks like we timed it pretty well!
A big thanks to all involved, I am looking forward to next week.

- Bolt
