It would be a good idea to email a couple of them and explain your body type. Try starting with RT-Mod and AM and see how you go.

Edit: sorry, just reread your post, the link I posted above is the vetted sellers list, the link below is where to avoid:

I came across an ex member on Facebook and he has a kit that was in storage so I’m at this time gonna go with him

It might be worth putting a few photos of the kit up here or on FISD and let the experts have a look first before you commit to anything.

I think that is a question only you can answer.
I find the club rewarding in both freindships made and in what we do and why we do it.

Unfortunately it is a frustrating and expensive hobby, it requires patirnce and research and countless frustrating hours of building and trimming and fitting to get everything just right but thats what makes the final reward so much better.

There has been some great information posted so far but ultimately the decisions are up to you.

No-one will tell you what armour to buy, thats your decision to make, all we can help with is guiding you to the right places to get advice.
FISD is certainly where you will find the lists of place to buy and places to avoid.

From this thread : http://www.501st.com.au/forum/showthread.php?tid=7059
Unofficial Troop
The costume is yours and yours alone and we can't say where, when etc you can wear it. But please bear in mind that we do have a reputation with the general public and we have a good rapport with quite a number of charities and we have a pretty good turn out when we do troops for them.

If we haven't been asked to attend an event it is prudent to at least ask permission to attend and not just turn up, they don't always approach us to attend and there may be a reason for this. We don't want to ruin our relationship with the charities we help on a regular basis. You should always ask permission and not just turn up at an event. This could be disastrous not just for the costumer but also for the organiser and they would be in their right to ask you to move on.

Also at unapproved troops you are not covered by the Redback Garrison Public Liability Insurance policy. So if, heaven forbid, that you injure poor little Timmy there may be a chance you could be out of pocket for a substantial amount of cash.

I have no problems with people going out in costume, it is your property after all. We just don't want to ruin the 501st or the Redbacks reputation. So please keep this in mind if you want to go out on your own.
