Greetings From Cairns

Hello Redback's. It is an honor to meet every one of you and I hope to join you guys. I have a interest in joining the 501st, however I have no idea where to begin searching for a costume, there's a few places on the web that do movie accurate costumes yet not sure if they would be 501st legal. Is there anywhere that you guys would recommend me searching (was thinking the imperial officer line)? I suck at making stuff LOL.

Thank you for taking the time in reading this and I hope that I one day get out there and troop with you all.

Cosplaysky make a officer uniform which a few of us including myself have

Don't get their belt or cap though as last I heard they are not up to level needed

We have members that make the belts and caps though and will leave them to say hi

You'll need then boots and depending on the officer type a couple of accessories e.g rank badge and code cylinders

Have a look at the costume reference library at 501st.com to pick which officer and then you will have your shopping list

Hey welcome mate, Cairns is my home town.

I can help you with sourcing an Imperial Officer costume if you like. I have one as do quite a few of us. They make a great first costume, aren't too expensive and are easy to wear (compared to armour anyway). Note I said first costume.... its hard to stop with one!

Good luck with your journey!

Thanks so much for the help Duras. CosplaySky seems like a good place to start getting the base costume and it doesn't break the bank LOL.

Hi Rebelrach, that's awesome. Cairns is great haha. Any help would be welcomed. I'm just researching places for the boots and gloves now making sure that they would be 501st approved.

Hi there and welcome to the Redback forums Smile

You need to have a read of the CRL (Costume Reference Library) for your costume:
http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:...icer_black

I would also suggest to sign up on the Imperial Officer Corp for your research:
http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/

A lot of the guys here go for the cosplaysky officer uniform, I believe it is the deluxe version (?). A few of our guys have dealt with them and helped make it all that more accurate. Just make sure that you give them as many measurements as you can. Maybe someone who has purchased one recently can post here. If you go down the cosplaysky route they will just supply the tunic and jodhpurs you will need to get the other elements of the costume (hat, hat greeblie, belt, belt buckle, code cylinders, rank bar and boots) as per the CRL to complete the costume. There are people in the garrison who can help with some these elements.

I would also suggest that you have a read of these couple of threads:
http://www.501st.com.au/forum/showthread.php?tid=6720
http://www.501st.com.au/forum/showthread.php?tid=6719

Don't forget to ask lots of questions, we are a pretty friendly and helpful lot.

Good luck and have fun!

Welcome Dale mate!, don't be afraid to ask as many questions as possible, as it will help you with your build aswell as where to source you're costume and yeah do what Phantom says, and do as much research as you can , at the end of the day you want to be confident on what you want to build.

Thanks for the support mate. You guys have already made me feel welcomed and its great. I've been to many Comic Con's across Australia and have seen you guys in action, most recent was the Brisbane Comic Con where I got some photo's taken with the Garrison that was there, do believe that it was the Redback's. I look forward to completing the application progress.

Yes mate that's the one but don't buy the hat, its not the standard. You want to get your measurements right too. Its actually $20US cheaper than it used to be! What a bargain!
