hello from another newbie.
I'm just starting the process of learning how to obtain a stormtrooper or biker scout costume/uniform.
I've registered on a few sites and have seen some of the suppliers overseas. I'm hoping to get some local knowledge (I'm in Brisbane)

Could someone please direct me to the relevant part of this site or any other one to find out the size of helmets. One size does not fit all when it comes to me and I don't want to pay out the money for a uniform only to find that the helmet doesn't fit.
With regards to fitted hats, I need larger than a size 8 (8 and a half usually) and so its hard enough to find hats.
67cms or around 26 inches is my size

G'day mate.
Check AM and RT-Mod for their helmet sizes

Hi scarecrow and welcome the redback garrison forums.

Stormtrooper
I would start off choosing which stormtrooper you want to do there are a few to choose from check out the Costume Reference Library or CRL:
http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL

Head over to First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment or FISD to do all your research:
http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/
Before you purchase anything please look at the vetted sellers of armour on FISD. There are sellers out there who do state that they are 501st approvable but some are just using the 501st brand to sell stuff. Please check with the folks on FISD or post up here first before you part with your hard earned dollars. Here is a good link to have a read through regarding armour seller:
http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11...find-them/
When you make contact with the sellers make sure that you give as much detail about yourself like height, measurements of biceps, thighs, waist etc so that you know that you will get a kit that will fit your body type. You don't want a kit that will be either too small or too large.

Biker Scout
Again, check the CRL:
http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:...ut_trooper

Sign up on the Pathfinders Detachment http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?act=home to do your research on hard armour and where to purchase it from. Again give as much info as you can to the seller to make sure the kit will fit.
We have a few scouts here in the Redbacks who might be able to point you in the right direction of a supplier for the hard armour.

We do have a quite a few good seamstresses here in the garrsion who can help with the soft parts, so when you get close just ask and we can pass on their names.

While you are reading, this will give you some insight on the approval process:

But never be afraid to ask questions we are a pretty helpful and friendly bunch.

Good luck on your journey.

RT-Mod has replied and it looks like even his helmets wont be big enough so I'm out of luck it seems.
Better to find this out now before paying the money

Have you tried looking at the MRCE helmets? They are pretty big but they need a little work to get them approved, it might be another option. Places like game traders, Zing, Popcultcha might sell them.

I know that Supernova is coming up next month.
Do people find that the helmets that they've purchased online have started out too big and they've reduced the size or did they start off too big but then by the time additional padding/electronics etc are in place, it is a snug fit?

It is a bit hard to reduce the size of a helmet. So long as it and the armour are proportional to your body shape and size it shouldn't be a problem. Most people will pad the helmet out and add fans inside.

Most approvable Stormtrooper helmets are pretty much the same size. EFX helmets are probably a bit bigger and have a larger opening at the bottom. If you have any doubts hold off purchasing and chat to a trooper at a troop or AP. Brisnova is not far away, and there will be an array of makes of armour for you to look at.

I've been told that kropserkel helmets are fairly large and also have seen on the Anovos website that they do things like AT-AT driver costumes that "will fit even the largest heads" but they don't ship to australia
