Hello from Maryborough

Hey guys,

I once posted on here a few years ago about joining up and was pretty keen, but unfortunately life got in the way.

But, with the upcoming release of Episode VII I've been re-inspired to get off my toosh and get this sorted out.

I've done some research already, and will most likely be going with TK to keep things simple as I have little experience with costuming at this stage.

I've found a few really informative threads and websites that I've been able to read up on the different kits available and their pros and cons, however I'm unsure of how up-to-date these are, and was wondering if any of you kind folk would be able to point me in the right direction.

I'm thinking that ATA or AM would probably be the best way for me to go, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Avalon, welcome back to the forums. Always good to have another TK join the legion Smile

If you haven't already, sign up to the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment (FISD) at whitearmor.net, plenty of information there about various armour makers (look for the vetted sellers list). Each type of armour has its own pros/cons, your height and weight will also be a factor in determining the right armour for you.

Have you decided on which TK version you would like to build? http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL

Hi Avalon,
The Empire is always looking for new TKs! You don't even need to pass the blaster accuracy course!
Sounds like you might have found the vetted sellers list on FISD? Even though the original post is about 5 years old, it is kept up to date, so you can be confident about the information in it. I have ATA and am very happy with it, it was a lot of fun to build, just be aware they have pretty long lead times, I waited about 8 months, and I don't think it is any shorter at the moment.
Cheers,
Scott

Thanks guys. I was indeed on whitearmor.net earlier and indeed I did find the vetted sellers list. Good to know that it's kept up to date! I have seen some info about a new set called ANOVOS that's still on pre-order that looks quite nice, and affordable, however they don't seem to shipping to Australia anytime soon so that looks like a no-go. All the other info I've seen points to ATA being an excellent choice. It's a shame about the waiting times, but that appears to be the case with all of the kits.

From what I understand, most of the kits are derived from the ROTJ original molds, so I'm assuming that would be a good place to start. Either that or ANH stunt, I'm not entirely sure at this stage.

It sounds like you have already been over to FISD (http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/) As for chosing the right kit well that is upto you. So long as the makers know all your measurements so you get the right kit to suit your body.

There are a few stormtroopers to choose from, have a look through the list and then research the one you want to complete.

If in doubt please ask.

Oh and stay away from Ebay!
