Hello from a bit above Brisbane!

Hey everyone.

I live in Redcliffe, a bit north of Brisbane, and I would love to get involved with the Redback Garrison.

I recently purchased a Kylo Ren costume as well as the Black Series helmet and Hasbro lightsaber, and my dad's girlfriend made the suggestion that I get involved with you guys as I think she knows a person amongst you.

It's a bit late as of now, but in the morning I'll post up some pictures of my current costume, hopefully some of it is to a high enough standard, but otherwise will need some help getting it up to scratch.

Look forward to getting to know you all. Smile

Hi there mate.

Be careful of buying a costume in full without consulting the Costume Reference Library (CRL). Most online costumes are a cosplay style of costume and won't meet the standards of 501st approval without modification. Kylo Ren may look like a simple costume. But there are a lot of little details to get right. He is the new bad guy so you need to get it spot on.

Have a read through this thread http://www.501st.com.au/forum/showthread.php?tid=6720, I know there are a few links to go through and read but you can never have enough information for this hobby.

When building or constructing costumes you need to refer to the Costume Reference Library (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Kylo_Ren, I would recommend that you sign up on the Sith Lord detachment to help with your research as well http://www.501stsithlords.com/

I would suggest that you do a build thread here and on the Sith Lord detachment so that you get guidance during the construction. That way you alleviate the risk of anything being incorrect at the time of submission for approval.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, we are a pretty friendly bunch and we have all started off where you are.

Also, there is a private Facebook group called 'Knights of Ren' it's basically the place to go for ANYTHING Kylo Ren, they have supplier lists, build guides, tutorials etc
You've taken your first step into a larger world.

Just be careful with these fan sites. Some of the info might not follow the 501st CRL. So please if you are going to uses these sort of sites please be careful if you are wanting 501st approval always consult the CRL, the detachment or your GML. Ask questions before you part with your hard earned dollars and do a build thread to be on the safe side.
