Troop Report: Auscon
#1
Date: 30/04/2011 - 2/05/2011

Venue: RNA Showgrounds

Time: From 8am each day

Mission:Serve and Protect the attendees of the new convention for Australian Board Gamers

Trooper Attendance:
Moxxxie, Cobra, The Scotsman, Tirilia, Bextar, Phantom, Hopfot,

Guest Trooper Attendance:
Jaggered

Support Crew:
Cutter, Big Mac, Zerebin, Deimos

Detail:
At 1900Hrs on the day prior to the troop TK Moxxxie and TKC Cobra ran recon and set up the booth ready for the next day. The small green troop carrier was cosmically morphed so that all the equipment could fit in, along with pilot and navigator.

At 0845 on the first day of operations, TK Moxxxie and TKC Cobra marched into the venue and surprised the locals with their Awesomeness. Sadly, none of the inhabitants even glanced up from their important gaming - so all of that Awesomeness went to waste. Thankfully, there were other mercenaries in the shape of WW2 Reinactors, who appreciated our uniforms, and marvelled at our Mugshot capture machine.

The day went slowly, with very few mugs having to be shot. The day was broken up by a lovely $3 steak courtesy of the local watering hole, The Jubliee.

Day 2 started much the same as Day 1, however TKC Cobra had to wash his hair, so was unable to assist. Thankfully, TB Hopfot arrived forthwith and got busy being Awesome. Soon after, new cadets Jaggered and Deimos showed up to lend support to the troopers. TK Moxxxie ran a quick recon for the Cadets, showing them the lay of the land - and how to bully troopers into drinking fluids and keeping safe.

It was at this point that an urgent request for a Stormtrooper came over the radio. TK Moxxxie answered the call, shedding the Imperial Officer uniform and marching through with the shiny white armor to stand next to Hopfot.

Soon after, Bextar and Phantom arrived to reinforce the troops. Bextar had her own recruits with her, and they performed outstandingly - even when there were awesome Star Wars comics to be read! Commendations to be sent to the Galactic Academy!

Qin and her personal wrangler, Cutter, arrived soon after - to ensure that the troopers were on their guard. Even off duty Jedi can be tricky to kill.

The Scotsman also arrived, lending support to the Imperial Officer corp and raising morale, along with Big Mac in a backup supporting role.

Soon after The Scotsmans arrival, there was an urgent request to spread the Awesome to the local Model Train Expo. A small recon team was formed, including Jaggered borrowing Goose's armor. It wasn't quite the right fit - but he looked impressive and was an instant hit with the kids.

On the return journey, Cutter, Moxxxie and Zerebin ran the gauntlet of Creamfields punters who had been chemically enhanced. At one point, one lass hopped the barriers to hug the troopers - and try and get a piggyback from Cutter. She was denied in the end, but it was a close run race. I'm not sure if she'll remember it in the morning.

During this whole time, Phantom, The Scotsman and Deimos manned the MugShot Booth stoically - managing to take a few great mugshots in the process! Both troopers deserve a commendation - with Deimos earning the highest honor for his persistence and energy.

The call was made to terminate the mission early - as many of the inhabitants had been killed (within their game tournament) so only a few die-hards remained. All equipment was packed and stowed in record time, with the troopers retiring to the nearby watering hole for a well earned meal.

Charity Funds Raised:$215.65

Injuries:
None, but we heard all about Hoppys!

Malfunctions:
Moxxxie's thigh piece gave up the ghost.

Public Incidents:
The chemically assisted girl probably had to be escorted home.

Mission Status:
Success!

On a side note, we raised just under $1,000 at AUSCON for the Queenlsand Cancer Council with the AUSCON raffle, the MS tins were also full, a rough total coming to $600 or so fo rthe "Pass the Pigs" competition!

So thanks to my colleagues in the 501st for their support, a special shout out to Zerebin, BigMac and our newest rookie Ash (who borrowed my much sought after TK suit!)

Cheers all, was a huge event, I am knackered and about to go to bed!

Great report Moxxxie, had fun at this troop. More than I thought I would.
One correction, not TB, TX.

I can't help if skirmish is awesome. And leaves some awesome war wounds. Just wish I took more body hits and less shots to the face. :P

Headsup for this one - I've been sent to Mackay, and I've left my wallet and credit cards back in Brisbane. >.<

Because I've left my credit cards, I cannot process the donation to the Cancer Council until Friday afternoon. As soon as I've done that, I'll post the receipt here (and forward a copy to Neo and Trinity!)
