Hello! I'm excited to finally have the chance...

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to say that I think what you do is fantastic and it would be an honor to be apart of it! I've seen your detachments at Sydney Supanova last year which really got me interested!

But I do need a little help with some things. I have been looking recently into making my own costume, which is in the cards, but I need to find the time! So in the meantime, I was wondering if you could possibly show me some purchasable 501st approved Stormtrooper or Imperial Office uniforms? I don't mind modifying them, though I am novice with that kind of thing!

Can't wait to hear from you guys. Thanks!

Welcome Shane

As you mentioned the Sydney supanova I assuming you from nsw?

If so just be aware that we are the qld detachment and when you join up you will be in the nsw one. Though feel free to still visit is and ask questions.

Imperial officer uniforms can be got from cosplaysky. Look for the version 2 black officer uniform as members here and other garrisons have been working with cosplaysky on improving the accuracy

For imperial officer you will also want to join the forum imperialofficer.com

And for stormtroopers whitearmor.com

These are the specific costume sites

Thanks for the fast reply!

Yes, I am from NSW. Is there a NSW specific site or forum? I had a look at cosplaysky and found this following, would this be approved after adding the appropriate details?

http://cosplaysky.com/star-wars-imperial...p-hat.html
http://cosplaysky.com/star-wars-imperial...uckle.html
http://cosplaysky.com/star-wars-imperial...rsion.html

I also had a good look at the Stormtrooper websites you both refered to me to, and I may contact a few sellers with some questions! Which of those armors would you recommend for minimal modification? My budget is $1000 and under for a full costume. I am happy to pay for a good quality costume.

Thanks for the feedback! Can't wait to hear from you!

That's the uniform I got an have been approved in with no modification

I was told though the hat and belt buckle is not up to scratch and didn't get them. Instead there are people within the garrison that had the skills to make them and I assume there will be in the southern cross garrison as well

Nsw group is at http://www.501scg.com/

Thank you for the link! I am awaiting activation by an administrator.

What are your opinions on http://www.originalstormtrooper.com/. I had a look and they also sell what they call 'movies grade' E11 Blasters. But once again, I would like someone like you guys to confirm its authenticity. I would like to know if they are up to scratch?

Thanks a lot guys! I really like the look of the Officer uniforms but have my mind set on a Stormtrooper!

Thanks a lot for the offer, Benji! That would be fantastic! What would your opinion on this be? http://www.originalstormtrooper.com/shop...combo.html

It looks up to scratch, but you can never be sure!

So, what would have to be changed on the Officer uniform and hat on Cosplaysky?

Thanks!

I wouldn't buy it, the price is more than $1000 AUD, pretty sure you can make your own one from a kit for cheaper than that. It will also fit you better and look a lot better. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/ is where you wanna go for all things stormtrooper related. I don't really know much about them myself as I haven't built one (I've built 2 animated clones). Most of the time "ready to wear" costumes are over priced and not upto 501st standard. People often get fooled by a costume being "licensed" thinking that that means its of 501st standard. Funnily enough they never are, some not even remotely close. The FISD CRL's are very in depth and there's a lot of details to take into account. You can check them out here http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL

For cosplay sky uniforms, just order from them your uniform (jacket and pants) then an extra 1m of the same fabric. SideshowMel here on the RB forums can make you up an awesome hat. She made mine for my fleet admiral and its awesome as! Although check out the southern cross garrison to see if anyone there makes them Smile Will be a lot easier to get one made locally if you can.

So if you go the cosplay sky option for an officer, you can get a complete one for around $400-$450.
For a TK pretty sure you can put together an awesome one for under $1000

The difference between the cosplaysky hats & mine are that mine are custom made & exact movie replicas. The ones from cosplaysky are not crisp & starched enough looking, they are not high enough in the crown (so they fit a bit "slouchy"), do not have the right number of lines of stitching on the brim & are not exact replicas.

The other difference is the price. Since I custom make it to fit your head, I have to charge $45 if you provide the material (required for an exact match to the olive drab coloured uniform) or $50 if I provide the fabric (black uniform). Cosplaysky are a lot cheaper, but looking at the two hats side by side, mine are of a much higher quality, if I do say so myself.

Thanks for the sales pitch, Benji - much appreciated!

That sounds great, SideshowMel! Once I order my shirt and pants, I will more than likely use your services to make the hat! I have no problem paying a reasonable price for quality work! But also, is it worth my while simply buying the badges and other smaller accessories? As well as the belt?

I honestly can't wait to have this costume ready for inspection! Thank you all for the help!

Same here the hats are great

Unless there's a SCG member nearer to get your belt from Muppet from.our garrison is the man to talk to. He can sort you our for the belt and buckle plus the code disc you will need to go on the hat

That will leave you needing the code cylinders and boots I believe

Hey welcome mate! Lots of officers here, I just got approved.
They are a great soft costume and easy to wear, comfortable and look very smart. A great start!
You can get boots from "Horseland" or a similar horse goods store. A lot of us bought "Dublins" ranging from $60-90 on sale. They are just vinyl but will do the job for you.

I also have a custom made Sideshowmel hat and its awesome.

You will need rank badges and dossimeters or chalk holders to complete your uniform....

My advice is don't by buy anything until you've asked......

Good luck with it!!!
