Cosplay help

Hey one and all, been meaning to get around and signing up to you guys. You guys always look amazing in numbers at Cons. I have done many cosplays involving fabrics but never armour related. I am hoping to cosplay Shae Vizla sometime in near future. Was wondering if I can get any tips to point me in right direction to start off in? Be helpful if you could recommend material types and tools needed. Funny how redheads seem to make the best bounty hunters
