All the information for joining the 501st can be found here:

http://501st.com.au/join-the-501st-legion/

That armour is quite expensive compared to other options, I don't have experience of it so I don't know if it is approvable but before you spend any money I'd recommend signing up over at the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment and having a read:

And welcome, the more shiny whiteys the better Smile

I wouldn't necessarily take the word of someone trying to sell you some plastic for nearly $2K Wink

Have a read of that thread (or just search for originalstormtrooper on whitearmor)

or read this post in particular .. I wouldn't be touching that armour with a barge pole

Welcome to our forums Smile

For all questions regarding Stormtrooper armour, our FISD attache "Seantrooper" is the authority on what is, and is not, acceptable, so drop him a PM and I'm sure he can help you find out about that armour

would this be a better armour kit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Stormt...2581aeffb4

No.

Seriously have a read of the FISD forums. I didn't even have to look at your link to know that it is an FX suit. Don't buy from ebay.

Welcome to the forums Brett.

As Bullant made mention, your first port of call would be the FISD forums!

ebay is always a questionable place to buy armour, as a lot of the claims on there, simply are not true, you have to remember, they are trying to offload a product, and they'll say almost anything to make that happen, and sellers love the words "501st approvable" because they know lots of people search for that.

In this case, the TK ID they've referenced it as being approved by (51110), is not an approvals officer, that number actually belongs to the late Mandy Zehner from the Northern Darkness Garrison who was given a posthumous induction into the eternal legionnaires, so even if it is exactly the same suit of armour, it has never been put through the completed process that it needed for approval, as posthumous inductions are given as a tribute to those who have become one with the force before they have the chance to submit an application.

You can read her EL notice here:

I find it pretty ordinary that a seller would be using that as a sales pitch, so I'll see if there's anything we can do from 501st Command about it.

The best thing for you to do though, is to get along to a troop or Garrison function and talk with some troopers, and have a look at what we wear up close, a lot of what you're reading will make far more sense when you can see first hand what it's all about. It'll also let you become verified as a cadet, which will allow you to see more of the forums. There is no rush, as a few days won't make a big difference, but it might save you very significant amounts of money in the longer term by not buying incorrect parts.

Hi!
Another one from Brisbane - gooood!

I'm not in 501st yet, but I'm on my way. And I glad that we get more people in Brisbane.

Your best bet is a kit, and then get us to help you build it. It's daunting at first, but not that hard, and you will end up with an approved set of armour, at half the cost.

As for a review of the armour, I believe Jaggered has that Armour make. Send him a PM for a review.

Hi and welcome, I would NOT be buying from there, talk to some of the guys here, and DON"T rush your purchase because it could save you lots if you slow things a bit.
Come along to an armour party or a get together and have a chat face to face with some of the guys here..
A little bit of time spent doing that will save you a lot of money and heart ache and you will find just how easy and fun it is to build your own with help from us.
