Clash of the Ages

Once again troopers from the mighty Redback Garrison have deployed to the Heritage listed Archer Park Rail station in the Rockhampton system. But this time, they are not alone, reports of a horde of ancient warriors have been received and it’s up to the Redbacks to investigate…

The troopers quickly established a rally point outside the Cancer Council stall…

Super Ted made a second appearance, spearheading the fundraising efforts by attempting to sell off his clone brethren

To help our investigations, we decided to work undercover around the station, we’re not sure if our tusken can actually cook, or if chef bear was making him work like in the movie “Ratatouille”, but the snags were popular

As well as helping the conductor to keep order on the steam tram…

It was then that we got our first lead, with a strange gauntlet discovered by Darth Nihilus, the reflective surface seems to enhance force powers, and Joker’s lack of armour was rewarded with a force choke

Fortunately, the fury of a Sith Lord only lasts so long…and Nihilus had a “cape buddies” moment with Super ted

Not wanting to give the Sith Lord a second chance to single him out, Joker quickly donned his armour and set to investigating the rumours, cleverly infiltrating the enemy camp totally undetected

Not sure what gave us away, but a turf war ensued…

Until everybody discovered common ground, well everyone except the tusken…

Unfortunately, it didn’t get much better for him, the hunters were quite skilled in the days of old…

Apparently he was “just sleeping”, and had soon made a new friend

AndyRulz and Joker tested weaponry at the firing range (and still managed to completely miss every target, so our reputation as imperial marksmen is intact)

Upon the finding this “Morgul blade” Nihilus started muttering something about “Shire, Baggins” and finding “The one ring”

Before undergoing some sabre training at the hands of the guild weapons master, who had a distinctly Sith like look to his attire...

“I can’t see a thing in this helmet”

After confirming that the horde were loyal to the Empire, Andy and Joker instructed super ted in the art of driving a train.

And he scored a direct hit! Tusken down!

Lastly we got to create a very special experience for a Japanese exchange student who is currently a guest of Beep13’s family. She was very excited to meet some troopers, since she plays the Old Republic online and is a big fan.

The volunteers at the station have really taken a shine to our troopers, and even though we don’t raise a lot of money directly, these troops are a ton of fun, and our attendance helps to get more people to the open days. We have to say a big thanks to the Capricornia Medieval Guild, they were great sports, and there was a lot of interest in costumes from both parties and a common love for what we do. All of us really enjoyed checking out their period accurate armour and weaponry, and hopefully we’ll be able to troop together again in the future.

We had a bit of a staggered arrival of troopers to the station, so I spent the first half the troop wrangling (which I quite enjoyed) however we did discover that leaving me out of armour, and unsupervised may lead to an influx of girl scout cookies and home-made strawberry butter cakes in the dressing room.

Cody had a minor malfunction when a bootstrap broke away from his shoe, but it was nothing that a little glue can’t fix. The patrons were really interested in our stuff, and hopefully we’ve identified some more trooping opportunities for the near future.
