Report

Mission: As a young trooper, observe and learn the ways of the Perthians, and report back on the TAG reunion of 2010. Failure to do so is not an option.

! UTINI! MEWA WATICH MI WEOW HEEY-O WOOHEE!
(Translation- Hello! my name is Panda Bear DZ 2592)

Throughout the beginning of the week, troopers from the inter-state of Australia made the treacherous and dangerous journey to Perth; what pain and hardship it was for the outside troopers, what heroes…..
(Ok it wasnâ€t even painful, except maybe for Pikachuâ€s minders, having to deal with its big annoying weapon of mass destruction……o yeah and that tail that gives out thunderbolts)

By Thursday, all the troopers (and PokÃmon alike) had arrived in Perth.
I would report on Thursdays events, but Iâ€m pretty sure alot of people already have some knowledge of the events that took place (also that Moo has already done an awesome report on it; check it out in the Mini Troop Report)

Friday night saw troopers gather at a well known Perthian restaurant called Sizzlers.
Up to 30 people attended the night, which involved a group photo of all attendees and some singing as we wished happy birthday to fellow troopers Marcin and John.
Despite the freezing temperature outside, the night was enjoyed by all

Saturday saw day one of the convention, day 1 of a day in history, day 1 of just pure awesome trooping at its best.
And suddenly, I caught a glimpse of the legendary, holy, magnificent and every adjective that describes awesome…..Bunker.
The Bunker of the DSS, was what would be our hideout for our costumes throughout the duration of the troop, our cover from the rebel forces of the annoying nerds in the con who tried to outsmart us or try to hit on the squads ISO officers (Shelly and Sara did an amazing job by guiding patrons and raising money)
We had everyone from the big daddy himself Darth Vader (Gav), to a surprise visit from SCG XO Dylan and old friend of the DSS Jabob.
As usual, Team Jawa got up to its usual antics, from chasing life sized Darleks around the convention to chasing Stormtroopers and stealing their precious weapons.
In the morning, troopers lined up in front of Daniel Loganâ€s signing area to grab signatures from our favourite bounty hunter.
At midday saw a group photo with the scoundrel himself; as he was then escorted by 2 lovely ladies and Stormtroopers Avers and Juice to his talk, somewhere on the other side of Mos Eisley.

It was there that our hearts melted as at the end of the talk, Daniel Logan presented Jasper, a beautiful little boy from Perth who is suffering from cancer, a certificate and his first clonetrooper bucket as apart of his honorary membership to the 501st.
The brave little trooper was then escorted by trooper Avers, holding hands as they walked back into the main building.

Saturday night came rolling in, as we celebrated the birthdays of troopers Marcin (Szlemm) and John (Moo)
The theme of the night was “Heroes and Villains”, and we had a whole range of characters including Dr Horrible (Judoguru), Austin Powers (Connor), Dr Evil (Jowwarr), Ash Ketchum (Szlemm), Buzz Lightyear (Panda Bear), Poison Ivy (MJ) Han Solo (Muppet) and Froddo…..i mean Aragon (Alcafath).
We had everything, from the Timmy Dance, to everyone arguing about what Matt was dressed up as.
But the one thing that stole the night was King Jawa giving lapdances to troopers Marcin and Matt, then of course a very special lapdance for king himself, John.
The night was enjoyed by all, everyone was well behaved (well mostly anyway)

Sunday came as a big wake up call as we all tried to recover from the amusing night that was before.
Troopers started rolling in for the second day at approx. 0800hrs (well the troopers that got the most amount of sleep anyway).
Once the stragglers arrived, everything went business as usual.
At lunch time, troopers were invited to have a professional photo with Daniel Logan.
While waiting in line, Jawa MJ got a little restless and started on her rampage once again, stealing Wilsons red bucket and pinching one of Jowarrs pistols.
Just as the day was about to end, the head honcho himself gave one final speech to the gang, as troopers signed one of inner walls of the Bunker, leaving messages of good will (and something about water tribe and fire nation?)

The final tally of the money that was raised for telethon……$2068

Casualties MJ at the end of the weekend left with a decent bruise on her arm (she still doesnâ€t know where she got it from), Jabobâ€s thigh coming undone……again, my Jawa eyes started winking…again.

Happy People Everyone

Mission Status Completed

Lessons Learnt

1. Pikachuâ€s donâ€t have 6 fingers….but poor old Bridget thought she did.
2. Inflatable Buzz Lightyear wings are awesome!
3. Just because it looks sunny in the morning, doesnâ€t always mean its going to be warm outside (learnt that the hard way)
4. Itâ€s a very small world.
5. Jawa lapdances are good party starters.
6. What happens in Perth…..goes on facebook.

On a personal note
Just a big thanks to everyone who attended the reunion, whether you were in the hotel room 2 floors below mine and mums, or where just one of the awesome people from Perth who made the stay very welcoming, thank you.
To the 501st troopers in W.A; thanks for being so warm and kind and easygoing; you guys are an awesome bunch to hang out with.
BIG thanks to Russell who drove mum, my friend Bridget and myself to and from the airport, as well as to the reunion dinner and basically anywhere else we needed to go throughout our stay.
And last but not least, a massive panda bear hug and thanks to John for organising EVERYTHING (and for letting us bombard your house on that Monday morning); if it werenâ€t for you, Iâ€m sure the reunion wouldnâ€t have been as big of a success as it was.

This is DZ 2592 signing off

Understatement, like an adult with ADD, but its good to see he has so much enthusiasm and loves doing what he's doing.
