Date: Saturday the 19th of May 2012

Venue: Royal Pines Resort

Time: 1800 - 2100

Mission: AUSCERT were having their annual Gala dinner and decided that they needed some awesomeness. What could they do. Jumping castle...nahhh. Balloon artist....snore. Maybe they could get a petting zoo. Hells no. They did the most sensible thing they have ever done and called us. Needless to say awesomeness was brung to the party.

Trooper Attendance:

Apok
Phantom
Muppet
Beanie
Hoon
Hopfot
Stormraven
Darkvoyd
Anakira
Sith Princess
Glitch
Jaggered
Oigen

Guest Trooper Attendance: TK4756 from the Rocky Mountain Garrison was attending this event as a guest. One he saw us the question was asked as to whether we were 501st. He was very impressed with us.

Support Crew:

Demios - Yep the super wrangler was there out of armour.
TK-TEX

Detail: Phantom turned up early and scope the place out. Soon after the team arrived to be directed to the Norfolk room. Deeming a spacious function room as adequate for our changing needs we all relaxed and I checked out the area for Rebel scum...none were found.

After having a couple of ice buckets of drinks delivered (posh I know), the main body of troops and Fett armoured up and headed out to await 700 party goers. Vader and the Emperor stayed behind to await the party goers inside the gala hall as a surprise.

Outside in the open air it was nice and cool to troop and there was a tank. Not a water tank but an actual tank. So with back up we mingled and got hundreds of photos taken by a lot of very amazed and awe struck attendees. Lets just say I think quite a few facebook profile pictures will have been changed by now.

Then it was time to usher them into the main gala room. A lot of "move alongs" were issued and we got them into the main room to face the wrath of the Emperor and Lord Vader. Once they were all seated all troopers and Sith Lords retired to the Norfolk Room.

After 5 minutes dinner was served....to us. Beef Casserole, fish, salad, a vegetarian medley, rice and dessert were delivered. Like a ravenous flock of mynocks we descended onto the food, only to have our eating cut short. The evening in the main room was going faster than expected. We re-armoured up and got back into the main room to mingle and arrest the emcee. Well we tried to but due to the lack of communication we didn't get the chance until a little later in the evening and by then the moment had gone. Still we made it look cool and we got some great photos.

Then the guests were served their dinner and it was time to exit. We went back to the Norfolk room and got back to the food. On the way back though Hoon, in his TB, was bailed up by one of the guests and asked him if he would pose on the guys motorbike. Before Hoon could answer the guy handed over a $50 donation. Needless to say Hoon, Vody and Anakira headed down there and got some photos.

Once we finished eating and packed up and headed back to our home bases. A great night was had by all. Really fun troop.

Charity Funds Raised: $1060

Injuries: Nil

Malfunctions: Nil

Public Incidents: Some drunken loon decided to try and steal Glitch's blaster. Luckily he was onto it and theft was averted.

Mission Status: Total success. AUSCERT were very impressed and hopefully a few people will ask us to future events.

Okay! So in order to make up for my three year absence and since nobody still doesn't know me... I'm doing my best to be on everyone's good books! So, since it's been requested from several guys, here's the complete footage from the Sith vs. Jedi!

http://vimeo.com/42140635

Now, a couple things:

Unfortunately this is ALL that I got. Although we had two more cameras, they were capturing kids reactions for the doco, so I was the only one to record almost everything.

I would say 98% of the fight is there... There's a couple cuts were people would cross in front of camera and decided to cut that out. Also I wish I had the ending with all the padawans joining in but I was not expecting it and have nothing (by the way, that was awesome).

This clip is more for personal use, it's not really edited, it has some music and a couple titles just because I like to present things tidy and presentable. Having said that, this footage is for you guys, the effort and the hardwork goes to everyone who put all the effort into the choreography, the training and so on... I just captured it. So feel free to ask for the raw footage if you want it and do whatever you want to it :-)

I think for next year we can work together and properly film the fight from mutiple cameras and have an awesome setup, film the training, etc. (Altough I'm looking to do a Vader Pre-Armor for next year so I would like to be in the svj!!)

Now I have to start working on the doco...

Thanks for watching!

Sorry this took a week but here it is.

Date: 5th and 6th of May 2012

Venue: Dreamworld. Dreamworld Parkway, Coomera, Gold Coast, Queensland, AUSTRALIA.

Mission: To descend on Australias largest theme park to raise money for the Starlight Foundation over one very awesome weekend. To make this one of the shining lights on the 501st Worldwide calendar.

Trooper Attendance: TBA

Support Crew: TBA

Detail:

Friday the 4th of May 2012

Bump in. A bold few hit the drop zone before all others to contruct our own little piece of the Death Star and set up the command area for the next two days invasion of Dreamworld.

Water and supplies were stacked, troop movements were planned and hydro-spanners were working overtime to get the Death Star ready. Our initial troopers on the ground worked tirelessly and succeeded in making sure all was ready for the first onslaught on Saturday.

Once everything was set we decided to head to a local establishment to have a few refreshments and chow. Once the advance team for that got there we found out the Rebels had infiltrated and marked all wearing our beloved Imperial colours as a "gang" and not welcome into the said establishment until all "gang" shirts were removed or turned inside out. Reluctantly we complied and ate and drank all the while plotting mass disintergrations of stupid people that make ridiculous rules.

Saturday the 5th of 2012

0600. Deployment starts. Apok is there and the troopers start arriving in droves. Trooper after trooper (and a few of those Rebs) enter Dreamworld and head to the drop off zone. A fully functioning IMAX cinema!!! Thanks to Spacebandit and Roy fro the whole weekend all 6 installments of the Star Wars saga, Robot chicken spoofs and Family Guy take offs were played all weekend. All GA kids were billeted in the Education room about the fairy shop.

0830. Time for the group photo. All troopers headed to the front of Dreamworld to document the invasion. Many group photos were taken. Once that was finished it was time to man our battle stations. Troopers hit the front to alert Imperial citizens of the codeword needed to get a discount and others headed to the photobooth to get ready for big and small kids to come and get their photos taken with there favourite Star Wars characters.

0915. A small few were alerted that there were some creatures that needed to be contained within the Dreamworld grounds. They headed down and found two baby tiger cubs that needed to be patted. OK not the most ferocious beasts in the galaxy but they will leave a mark if they get all hissy.

Patrols roamed and the photobooth was manned for the next couple of hours. Before too long it was time to mobilise for the parade.

1130. Troops mobilise outside the cinema to form up for the parade. We formed up into a line of awesomeness. Much to the delight of the crowd we wowed them as we marched past, waving, hi-fiving and posing for any pics they wanted. Once we finished it was back to the photo booth for some and a quick break for others. Patrols continued.

1400. A gathering of jedi assembled in the main street. Using their mind tricks many young Imperial citizens were duped into joining the Jedi Academy. Youngling were issued lightsabers from their parents and watched as the Jedi Masters showed them some moves and then, after watching their new younglings, all the Jedi Masters chose their padawans to then have a duel with Darth Nihlus. Nihlus went easy on them as slaughtering the young ones in front of there parents might seem a little heavy handed as we still needed more donations out of them.

Enter the Emperor!! Mocking the Jedi and their fallen ways our glorious Emperor unleash four of our Sith to duel with four of the pathetic Jedi. The battle royale was epic, it was Sith versus Jedi, and we had the upper hand until that little frog face Master Yoda called upon a whole crowd of Jedi to intervene and save their Jedi heroes. Our Sith forces managed to evade capture and live to fight another day. The Jedi were lucky.

More patrols and photos were taken. Troopers were also taking full advantage of the command centre and R&R facilities watching great scenes, like Alderaan being blown to pieces, Luke Skywalker getting his hand cut off, Han frozen in carbonite on a massive IMAX screen. Good times. Good times.

1530. Calling all Biker Scouts!!!! A distress call was made and all TB's that were available headed to the MotoCoaster to ride it and chase down some Rebel scum. Only 5 were available but I am sure next year we will be able to find some re-enforcements. Status of mission. Rebel scum captured and awesomeness attained.

1700. It was time to relax and unwind. A full day of battling and photo taking was had by all and now it was time to head to cantina known as Bibs and Ribs for a well earned party.

1800 til late. Bibs and Ribs was completely taken over...literally. Much Imperial ale was drunk, many Bantha ribs and Ronto burgers were eaten. Many tried the Double Dog Challenge and all failed. One got close. Mere crumbs were needed to finish, but alas his stomach rebelled stopping him at the final hurdle....and then rebelling as the Dog returned with a vengance. The trooper did survive though.

To say that we all had fun at Bibs and Ribs would be an understatement. I personally don't think I have seen us have this much fun and have so much laughter. I think Moxxxie completely losing it was the highlight of the night.

Once all had enough the troopers dispersed and got ready for the next day....well most did. A motley crew headed to the bar across the road and had a couple more drinks and a good laugh about the night. A nice drink and chat was had before we had to get ready to do it all again.

Sunday the 6th of 2012

A later start for all on ths day. Much needed.

0800. Due to a few eager troopers Apok was there again to let in the troopers to our drop zone again. No group photo today so it was straight to patrols out the front and getting ready for the 0930 photo booth start.

1000. Something a little different. With a whole lot of troopers in tow we made our way down to the Sheep Shearing Show down at AWE in DW. As we waited to start the show (APOK forgot his belt) a couple of groups of Asian tourists turned up to watch the show as well. Little did they know that one of our own was going to play the Storytelling Larakin of the show and drag up "Gary from the Death Star" aka Cutter to have a bit fun in the whip cracking part of the show and Jacob French to shear a sheep. I believe the tourists were completely bamboozled as to what was happening but it was a bit of fun. Then we watched one of the shearers do some great whip cracking stunts. This would have to be one of the most unusual things we have done as a Garrison.

1400. Again the Jedi tried to gain more padawans with there Jedi Academy. Lightsaber techniques were taught and again Nihlus was thrust into the fray to block the padawans meek attempts to cut him down. Our mighty Emperor again threw the gauntlet down to the Jedi. Four on four, Sith versus Jedi, the battled again only to have the jedi amass again in overwhelming numbers. All Imperial troops and Sith managed to escape again. Until the next time Jedi scum....

1630. It was time to head to AVPX for some target practice. This is a great tradition to do this in armour and for all those that do the perils are many. Poor visabilty, next to nil and weapons that you cannot see fire. Needless to say we prevailed and a lot of fun was had.

1700. Time to break down the command centre and move the Death Star back to the Outer Rim to bring them under control.

But first it was time to party and relax again. Dreamworld put on a BBQ for us and a Laser show called Illuminate. Beer was drunk, food was demolished (really it was) and speeches were made. Then it was time for a swap meet of great Imperial surplus and Rebel trophies of war and then the lasers crossed the sky in a display of how great the weekend was. Then it was time to say goodbye to our fellows from across this land of both Imperial and Rebel alliances.

Once the majority of troopers left to have a well earned rest, the resilient few stayed behind to break everything down and pack up all that was left behind.

0900 All the break down has left and one trooper remains to collect his armour, lock the doors, sign in the keys and get ready to do it all again.

Charity Funds Raised: TBA

Injuries: TheWolf injured himself before the event even kicked off. Due to this though even injured he manned the photobooth area and raffle table most of the weekend. His pain was the Garrisons gain.

Other than that we had the usual armour bites, lightsaber hits, mild dehydration and one vomited 2 foot long dog.

Malfunctions: Nothing really major happened. Mild armour SNAFU's happened but nothing blew up and considering all the armour and costumes we had great job by all.

Public Incidents: So many happy people and so many smiles made.

A massive thanks to all of you for turning up for this event. Whether you be Imperial or Rebel, without you all coming to this and donating your time, money and pure awesomeness this event wouldn't be as amazing as it is.

Greetings Troopers. Paul from the sunny coast here. Bardello (Bardy for short) has been my MMO name in the past and feels respectful and right to bring him into this awesome new world. Firstly let me just say that I sincerely think the work you guys do is inspiring and brilliant. Secondly I can't wait to help and join in the fun that this family has enjoyed for the last 15 years.

I am currently in an unfavourable position with employment due to the retraining I just undertook to better my earning potential,so unfortunately I can't start on my build till I remedy the situation (better half's stipulation).

I do however find myself at this point with a few extra hours each day to research the process (WIN ) .So any help in this regard would be very appreciated. I have priced the materials needed to make a vacuum form table and a heating source(I am/was a Plasterer so building stuff is bread and butter for me) So would love to hear from the experts on perfecting this process. Have not chosen which costume I want to build first so any advice there will also be appreciated. The mold's seem like they will be the hardest part, but I'm looking forward to the journey.

Until I can officially join the ranks with you, I will be following your journey with pride, envy and hope that your troops continue to bring happiness to the masses or at least find those Droids you were looking for. May your passions surround us and bind us to the Darkside.. Bardy

Hello,

My name is Andrew, and I've seen the 501st in action at several events over the last couple of years (Auscon/Gencon etc) and I've always been intrigued by you guys.

I had an epiphany yesterday, when I took my two kids aged 6 and 7 to Dreamworld specifically so my son could see all the stormtroopers. I'm sure there will be a few of you who might remember me, I was the guy with the boy in the TK-421 shirt who must have had his photo taken with every single 501st member, at least twice. The realisation I came to was that you guys seem to have a hell of a lot of fun, and I could see the joy that you were bringing to the kids lining up for their photos. So after talking it over with my wife (who thinks I'm nuts, especially considering my current 'hobby' is collecting every Star Wars Lego set I can get my hands on), I've decided that I have to get my own set of TK armour and come out trooping with you guys and girls, if you'll have me that is.

I've spent a lot of time today reading forum posts and websites from around the globe regarding TK costumes and the do's and don'ts of buying your first set of armour. It seems that muppet is the person to talk to, so I'll send him a PM, and hopefully there might be an armour party or similar sometime soon where I can come along and see the different types of armour up close?

I realise this isn't going to be a quick process, and I'm looking forward to acquiring and building my gear so that I can come out trooping with you all.

edit: I don't know if there is anyone local around here, but I live in the Greenbank area.

Cheers,

Hello Everyone,

I attended the SUPANOVA on the Gold Coast recently, and had my Photo taken with some wonderfully friendly members from the 501st, Redback Garrison.
While I was there, I looked carefully at the Stormtrooper costumes and was very impressed with the high quality and also the great work that you guys do...

I decided that I would like to also get involved, so I bought an EFX ANH 'Hero' Helmet and am now looking for some assistance, suggestions and recommendations on putting together a full ANH Stormtrooper outfit.

Thank you,
THE TIME LORD

The Force, the mysterious energy field that binds the Galaxy together, has seemingly manifested chaotic eruptions, breaking the laws of time, space, and imagination. At the Gold Coast system, heroes and villains from history and future, fiction known and unknown, have materialised into existence.

Luke Skywalker, young Jedi and hero of the Rebel Alliance, has been dispatched by Mon Mothma and Admiral Ackbar to investigate the appearance of these displaced beings. Unknown to the young Jedi, Darth Vader has released his Stormforce Project, a squad of Stormtroopers sensitive to the powers of the Force.

A mysterious figure has emerged near these events, seemingly from the Force itself, arriving in a blue police box of unknown origin…

BEGIN EXPANDED REPORT:

TK-4875 reporting in…

To: Lord Vader
Fr: TK-4875, Redback Garrison, 501st Legion
Re: Gold Coast System Force Manifestations, Day 1.

My Lord,

Our original mission was to oversee the construction of the Holostar, the much smaller vessel based upon the original Deathstar capable of capturing facial expressions and biological mapping. Once connected to the Holonet, ISB agents across the galaxy can get to work identifying Imperial Citizens and rebel sympathisers. The Holostar wasn't even finished, when word did come through from the ISB of a particular fugitive that was marked to be detained at all costs during the Force storms, to an equal level of imprisonment of the rebel Luke Skywalker. There was no image of the fugitive, only phrases: The Doctor, Time Lord, TARDIS.

Construction of the Holostar began using general labourers assigned to the Redback Garrison of the your 501st Legion.

They were a large crowd but lacked sufficient motivation, so disintegrations took place on those that didn't cooperate or acted against imperial work orders...

...until a hard working coherent workforce remained.

The Holostar's hallways were built to perfection. But during the building time, alerts of The Doctor kept being reported causing Stormtroopers to be diverted to other locations in the Gold Coast system. We knew not what the ISB wanted with The Doctor, but only that his presence and reputation as a Time Lord were enough to gather the Empire's attention.

During the construction of the Holostar, rebels made use of strange pockets of transdimensional space being caused by the Force. Within these pockets they plotted to fill the Holostar with their filthy rebel propaganda, particular articles included toy lightsabers and innocent looking rebel brochures. We continued to find these pockets, eradicating all associated with them and ultimately destroying them with a thermal detonator. The Time Lord was said to have been seen slipping from pocket to pocket, but he eluded us again.

The mysterious Doctor, of who nobody knew the true identity of, was eventually tracked down to his appearing and reappearing blue box. Of alll rebel criminals to have appeared on the Gold Coast system, Luke Skywalker - with the same level of imprisonment required as The Doctor, was seen in pursuit of The Doctor! We don't know why yet, but it would appear that the Rebel Alliance are seeking this man also.

One of our separated Stormtroopers caught up with the renegade Jedi, but was slain by Skywalker's lightsaber. Luke Skywalker followed The Doctor into the blue box and it was said to have faded into the Force not to be seen again on this day.

Despite there being very little holographic evidence of the first part of the Supanova campaign causing this report to be short, the battle is not over, for tomorrow we engage the true power of the Holostar image capturing device and continue the hunt for the Time Lord - the ISB are certain his work is not done.

But the question remains for now, who is The Doctor?
