Mara Jade "Snub-nosed" Holdout Blaster

Build Thread
No I am not building a Mara Jade costume Cheeky ... but I am in the process of building her "Snub-nosed" Holdout Blaster, so I thought I would share.

So first thing.. research! Looking around the internet I didn't find much in the way of reference pics. These are the ones that I found and the issue is the blaster looks different in each picture!

There are also a few fan made blasters out there, again all a little different. So I thought I would use a combination of the reference pics and also the blaster shown in the current CRL for inspiration.

I sketched up a 3D model of the blaster. As both sides of this blaster will be identical, I only modeled one half with the plan to mirror it for printing. The two halves can then be glued together.

Here is what I came up with:

And here is a preview of the blaster with both sides joined:

Both pieces printed

I was thinking about making the blaster a little wider, but now that its printing I think I am OK with the thickness

Still needs to be glued together and then prepped/sanded

I am quite happy with the proportions too

That looks great. I wish my 3D modelling skills extended beyond joining boxes and cylinders together and cases with sections cutout.

I wouldn't go wider, given the whole concept of the holdout blaster is concealment.

Looking great there sir Doppeldaumen1

Might I please ask what printer it is you use? With all the printing I do I've yet to be able to actually buy one for myself, but I'll soon be in the market for one (after I get the new laptop), so I'm just curious to know what other members are using Smile
