Troopers from near and far arrived to be armoured up for the early access patrons of Townsville's first major pop culture convention. As the main crowds were let in, the response was to our volume of troopers was great, as this was the largest imperial presence to be seen in Townsville (so far ). Many photos were taken and a few new recruits were made. Top effort by the troopers that had the backdrop occupied all day, you guys rock! Beanie also delivered a talk on the 501st and what is involved with becoming a member an armour building, so good work to you and the troopers that assisted him there!

Sun:

Troopers gathered in the morning for group photo on the main stage, before dispersing and patrolling the floor as well as the booth. Many photos were taken once again and I believe I even heard word of a dancing trooper?
Later in the day, several troopers went to investigate what sounded like a local disturbance, I believe it was determined to be "wrestling". Suspected rebel sympathisers were questioned, but no leads to the location of the rebels were to be found.

Just want to give a huge shoutout to the guys and girls that made the trip up from Brissy and Mackay, it was hugely appreciated to make the event what it was. To the super wranglers and people on the table, the armoured troopers could not be able to do it without you, and to the people that helped organise things like bump in and in general anything else while i was not there, I really appreciate it.

I'll ask anybody else to chime in with their thoughts and any amusing stories that they wish to share, as well as any photos they have of the weekend (as I'm posting this from work and don't have access to any at this stage)

Charity Funds Raised: around $90 of additional donations

Injuries / Malfunctions: Gix managed to take off part of her finger with velcro (dangerous stuff that!)

Public Incidents: One youngling that didn't want to let our troopers go. First time I've ever seen one cry from being taken away from our trooper, instead of the opposite.

Mission Status: A complete success, hope to make it even bigger next year!

Hey great write up Sean ( we've never had so many names to write out haha!! ) The weekend was a blast from start to finish and what a great bunch of garrison members
As for the dancing trooper I think I've lost any street cred I had, not because of the dancing itself but because it was to the Spice Girls!!!

Great troop! My only regret is not taking monday off so I could hang around for the evening's frivolities!

It was a really awesome weekend. A lot of the other con goers seemed to really impressed with the 501st presence and where keen to get photos taken with the members.
I think we were all surprised by the little mans eagerness to lead our troopers around too. Once he took your hand that was it. He was showing you everything. Hahaha.



Walking around following the troopers I was able to see a lot of the faces of people as we passed them too, each and every single one was left with a smile. Here are some of my picks form the hundreds of pics taken on the day.

I had such an amazing time at this event and meeting all the northern guys and gals was something I'll never forget. Words cannot describe the hospitality and warmth the locals showed to everyone that traveled a long way for this, so I'd like to say HUGE thanks to all of you!

I highly recommend this troop for everyone down in the south-east to try and attend in the following years! Not only for the fun, the cause and the dioramas , but for the support of NQ and their growth.

Champion effort everyone.

The con was a blast, but it was surpassed by meeting other 501st members from Mackay and Brisbane. Your dedication to the cause and open welcoming nature really shows what a great bunch of people you all are. Proud to be a 501st member.
