Redback Garrison

Venue: 24 Milton Street, Mackay Showgrounds, Mackay.

Mission: To help promote the first ever "Big Boys Toys Expo", held in Mackay.

Details:
From the word go I had a sneaky suspicion this troop would be on the fly so to speak & basically that's how things went down & as such you've got to be flexible.
We didn't end up having a stand so in my opinion to make things easier on all our troopers I made the call & to simply use our change area as a base of operations from which we would conduct random patrols from, mingle with the public.
In essence we conducted three patrols the first morning, followed by another two in the afternoon on the first day.
Go out as a group, walk & talk the talk with the public, photos etc, come back in, de-armour, rest & then go out again rather than attempt to have our troopers being static in no particular place with long stints suited up.
Our host had a set of Rubies TK armour & a set of the Halo Master Chief armour sitting in a box & said we could make use of it.
Gix wasn't keen on the Rubies but hell! She wasn't shy to quickly disrobe & don that Master Chief set even though we all worked out later that her under-suit was backwards! 
The second day was basically more of the same less Master Chief else we'd not have had any photos, we only conducted two patrols in the morning & another two in the afternoon.

Injuries:
Nil our end however, we shared our change area with another costumer (Fireman Sam) & his wrangler.
Fireman Sam ended up coming down with a case of heat exhaustion.
I wasn't present in our change area at the time of the incident but once I found out what was transpiring & seeing our cadet close to hand who is with our local St John team I asked him to check on Sam, thank you Xmez.
St John duty staff were present for the expo however I saw a need for urgency hence, since Xmez was basically with myself when I found out I asked him to assess the situation.

With summer now approaching we may all look at this incident as a timely reminder to not only look after one another, but also those around us.

Malfunctions:
Only one malfunction our end, Xmez battery pack for his fan unit decided it didn't want to sit inside his bucket/ helmet any longer than it needed to. Don't blame it really 

Public Incidents: One.

A member of the public attempted to remove my E-11 from my holster as they walked past while our squad had stopped for photos.
I always or most times will have my hand resting on the receiver group, end cap which still did not deter this individual.
Another reminder troopers... Vigilance is a must at all times when it comes to your safety, your fellow troopers & that of any props, accessories you have.
Never just rely on wranglers, they're good & then some to have on hand to stop or defuse a situation before it happens or from escalating but may not see or catch everything.
Gix did a fantastic job for us, just can't have eyes everywhere.

Mission Status:
A complete success from our prospective.
We were a complete surprise for the general public due to the nature of the event & we certainly made a impression.
Well done to everyone involved.
We decided to have a quick beverage mixer at the local Redback haunt, Hotel Mackay.

Since this troop was his first, test fitting of his Tusken, he has now been approved & joined our ranks as a full member, good work buddy

I'm unsure however, if this is correct then it needs to be added within the template so it's not over looked.
If someone could confirm & I'll make adjustments where required.

No the unapproved costume will not be added as a guest. They are unapproved and should not be trooping at an approved event.
