Venue: Norths Rugby Club, Shaw Road, Wooloowin

Time: 5pm – 6.30pm

Mission: To bring some Star Wars style to a wedding reception full of Star Wars fan, especially the groom.

Trooper Attendance:

Sticky – TK
Diatium – TK
Rebelrach – ID - Wrangle

Details: On a hot and humid day with a huge storm passing through Brisbane, Imperial duty called - provide some Star Wars flavour to a wedding reception at Wooloowin for Kane the SW obsessed groom, his understanding bride Kate, and guests full of star wars fans of all ages.

Skirting puddles and mud and asteroid field like pot holes, TK Sticky and TK Diatium met Imperial Officer Rebelrach early at Norths rugby club and got the details from the wedding MC. We kitted up in the players dressing shed and remained hidden as the stormtroopers were to be a surprise for the guests.

The wedding party arrived fashionably late and the TKs met the cars and were greeted with a chorus of approval and photos, the order to walk in was established and everyone was dodging the puddles and water. The bride wore white sneakers!

Flanked by an Imperial escort the wedding party walked into the reception with the TK’s stopping at the door for a guard of honour. The guests loved it and the TK’s were more popular than the newleyweds for a while. The troopers patiently posed for photo after photo with the all of the guests from the kids, to the grandparents. Diatium’s huge rifle proved a hit as did the lightsabers we’d brought along, which were used by the bride and groom to ‘cut’ the wedding cake.

Eventually the stormtroopers were dismissed from duty, but not before a hearty thanks from the newlyweds who very generously pledged $150 to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Despite the huge puddles and alarming plague of toads, the troopers escaped harm returning the dressing room, de-kitted and ensured the right E-11 went home with the right owner. A troop well done and still only 6.30pm!

Charity Funds Raised: $150 donated to Make A Wish Foundation

Injuries / Malfunctions: Diatium’s E11 lost a screw and it was so hot his resin rifle could bend a bit in the middle.

Public Incidents: Nil. Unfortunately no toads were disintegrated in the process of this troop.

Mission Status: A huge success, was great to contribute to a wedding reception the guests and bride and groom won’t forget in a long time, and we had a lot of fun too!
