Greetings from a prospective Knight! - Oxy - Wednesday 21-Oct-2015 Hi my name is Alex and I currently am studying at uni in Brisbane but I drive to Toowoomba on weekends to work (I know, crazy…). I have loved Star Wars all my life and have met up with the Redback Garrison multiple times at different events and I really value what you do in the community and I would love to contribute. I would really like to portray Kylo Ren as my costume as I am really intrigued by his character and find him awesome and quite mysterious (that last trailer though, amazing!). However, the film has not come out yet and I have no idea on how a costume would get approved so is anyone working on one that would be able to help me out? I have found a high quality costume (as my skills with crafts are below zero ) made by a member of the 501st but he isn’t currently taking orders (hopefully will be soon) and he lives in the US so with the exchange rate the way it is right now it will be costly to import but I am willing to do it. Anyway I hope to meet some of you awesome guys soon and start trooping and having a load of fun! Thanks for any help, Alex RE: Greetings from a prospective Knight! - Squirtle - Wednesday 21-Oct-2015 Welcome Friend RE: Greetings from a prospective Knight! - Phantom - Wednesday 21-Oct-2015 HI there mate and welcome. You have picked a pretty tough costume for a first up one. It currently isn't in the Costume Reference Library or CRL. Here is a list of costumes currently on the CRL: http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CRLbyname To get a new costume approved that isn't on the list there are some procedures to follow. Here are the guides to follow when attempting to get a costume that isn't on the CRL approved. http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CharacterApproval In short: - is it an official character (not fan created) - is there full body, 360 degree reference? - does it conform to basic human anatomy (not a droid, jabba etc) While you are reading have a read over this to give you an idea on the approval process. For a costume not listed in the CRL it should be forwarded to the GML and then they will forward it to the Legion Membership Officer (LMO). http://www.501st.com.au/forum/showthread.php?tid=6720 RE: Greetings from a prospective Knight! - Agent Smith - Wednesday 21-Oct-2015 Hi and welcome, from the Toowoomba end of the Garrison RE: Greetings from a prospective Knight! - Firestorm - Thursday 22-Oct-2015 Welcome Alex RE: Greetings from a prospective Knight! - Oxy - Thursday 22-Oct-2015 Thanks guys for the welcome Phantom: Yes I knew it was going to be ambitious to attempt a Kylo Ren costume without a CRL but if it doesn't work out I am patient enough to wait for one to be available (I am sure it won't take long after the movie). That's also why I was asking for help. Thanks, Alex RE: Greetings from a prospective Knight! - Kev Vader - Wednesday 28-Oct-2015 Welcome to the Forums! |
