Give Me 5 for Kids "high five" Record Attempt- Rockhampton - JOker - Friday 28-Jun-2013 Date: 28/06/2013 Venue: On the banks of the Fitzroy River, Rockhampton Time: 8.00am Mission: To lend Imperial support in the record attempt for the most high fives in a chain , while raising money for Give me 5 For kids Trooper Attendance: Stormybrite, Angelman Support Crew: Joker Charity Funds Raised: $371 dollars raised for the event, $1 for every high fiver was donated by the Heritage Hotel Injuries: Nil Malfunctions: Nil Public Incidents: Nil Mission Status: Success Photos and Mission details: After and early morning rise and cups of suitable beverages we assembled in the dressing room that we had kindly been loaned, which came with a nice view of the river.. Downstairs we didn’t make it out the foyer without guests asking for holo images for their kids back home. The clerk said it wasn’t the strangest thing he’d seen in a motel reception (his last deployment must have been in Mos Eisely) After a short wait to cross the road, We arrived to find many locals assembled, enjoying the free snags on the BBQ and other breakfast treats donated for the effort Nihilus resorted to aggressive negotiations with TK, much to the delight of the crowd. The official from Guiness World Records had his folder and clicker to make sure everything was done right (he saw the troops and bolted off in mid discussion to have his photo taken with them, leaving the event staff standing there with no idea what to make of it all) The Australian Army troops assured us they fully support future joint exercises with Imperial troops Even Queensland State of Origin Legend Jason Hetherington showed his support.. And then it was time to do the high fives, Nihilus found a very small local, with an even smaller teddy bear to warm up the high fiving muscles While TK warmed up the rest of the crowd… We all got in line and waited our turn… Which took a while, it was a long line of high fivers… In the end, high fives were exchanged, and a new Australian Record was set!!! Mission Success!!! We can now officially say we’re record setting Redbacks! This was a pretty short notice troop, as not many of us listen to the radio during the day, it was only by chance we saw a TV ad during the Origin about it, but the Sea FM crew were really cool with having us come down to join in the fun. We were only around 30 or so people short of breaking the world record and we’ve already been invited back for the next attempt RE: Give Me 5 for Kids "high five" Record Attempt- Rockhampton - Baytrooper - Friday 28-Jun-2013 Another Awesome Job Well done Redback's RE: Give Me 5 for Kids "high five" Record Attempt- Rockhampton - Angelman - Friday 28-Jun-2013 That's got to be one of the fastest posting of troop reports ever. Whaaatttt??!! Not 5 troops?* ... Great job Peace out RE: Give Me 5 for Kids "high five" Record Attempt- Rockhampton - Angelman - Sunday 30-Jun-2013 Hmmm Cav, I'm not a hard core Sandy .... yet. Three troops is still pretty full on. I think my TK might stay shiny for a bit long before I wreck it .... um I mean "upgrade" it to a Sandy. Oh I think the money raised on this one got upgraded, can someone confirm please. |
