Date: 1st December 2012

Time: 10.00am

Mission: Investigate rumours of separatist activity

Trooper Attendance:JOker

Support Crew: Sithershaw, Tanna

Charity Funds Raised: $102.45 for the QLD Cancer Council

Injuries: Nil

Malfunctions:Nil

Public Incidents: One mid 20’s gentleman must have confused Rex’s helmet with a door, as he took it upon himself to knock on it rather hard, the wranglers quickly acted to alleviate the situation, and I believe after the “re-education” his mother gave him in front of other shoppers he will not repeat the mistake in a hurry

Mission Status: Success

Detail:

Republic intelligence has intercepted separatist transmissions indicating a possible uprising occurring in the vicinity of Target Rockhampton, with all other local troopers already on a long range deployment in the Mackay system, Captain Rex enlists the assistance of two cadet troopers and set off to investigate the rumours...

Upon arrival, it becomes clear that to find the source of these rumours, Rex will need to blend in, he carefully conceals himself behind some shiny storage crates and a small ewok like creature.

Through further investigation, he discovers this shiny coating is called “gift wrap” and that its application is a highly specialised technique, wanting to impress the locals, he puts his advanced combat training to use.

A suspicious character located! After overcoming this small creature’s secret weapons consisting of massive waves of super cuteness and hidden web launchers, Rex discovers that this is the fabled “Spiderman”. Rex and he pose for holocron captures, as citizens are awed by seeing two heroes in one place...

After many failed attempts to access the separatist information stored in this droid, indicated by a smiling Italian plumber and a “game over” message, Rex decides that blasting it may be a better option

Reports of many small explosions, and an amazing smell throughout the store lead to the discovery of another odd looking droid, whose primary function is the production of a local delicacy called “popcorn”. After testing a sample of the product, Rex gives it his personal seal of approval

At this point a citizen with clothing designating her as “Santa’s Helper” sought out Rex’s assistance at a large holocron capture facility outside the store, which was met with great approval by the locals, never one to waste an opportunity, Rex initiates basic weapons training for Santa.

Deciding that a figure like Santa, who it appears, may almost rival the Chancellor himself in popularity, will need a protective force capable of protecting him from any separatist plot, Rex takes it upon himself to provide detailed weapons training for one of his attendants, locally referred to as an “elf”

Secret data located! Rex finds a “character encyclopaedia” containing files about many key figures in the Republic, including Rex himself, that the Separatists have such detailed information available is deeply concerning

Rex locates a mask clearly meant to be used for impersonating a Clone, and he has the distinct feeling he’s seen this face somewhere before

Success! Armoury Confiscated! With these items safely in Republic hands, there will be no Separatist uprising today...but the war continues...

Additional notes
This was a really fun troop, with troopers and helpers all arriving on time, even having the time for a coffee beforehand. The store was a bit quieter than expected, by the lack of younglings, it appears a lot of parents had snuck out without them to get in early on the Christmas shopping, this theory was confirmed with Rex being asked to hold a large number of Star Wars themed presents for holocron captures to be included in the gift package. Feedback from Target was really positive, and they reported a lot of Star Wars themed presents being purchased. I also want to add a big thanks here to Daniel (Sithershaw) and Tanna (my sister who after one ring-in troop, has become a regular wrangler with us) for their work today, they did a top job keeping things under control, and of promoting the charitable works of the 501st, and we had some really promising enquiries from potential new members that we’ll be following up. Great work guys
