Birthday Party - Mudgeeraba Sat 14 September

Venue: Mudgeeraba Jedi Academy (AKA Ted Sheppard Pavilion), Mudgeeraba Showgrounds

Time: 5.30 – 7.00pm

Mission: Avid Star Wars fan and Birthday boy Slayde was turning 10 and celebrating with a themed party. An Imperial presence was requested to quell rumours of a Rebel uprising.

Detail: Rumours surfaced about an ‘underground’ Jedi Padawan Academy in Mudgeeraba disguised as a Birthday party for 10 year old Slayde.

An available sandtrooper and Imperial Officer were quickly dispatched to the scene. Sensing a great disturbance in The Force, mini-Vader soon arrived to assert his Imperial authority and attempt to turn the younglings to the Dark Side. A nosey jawa also made an appearance and proceeded to try and steal most things not tied down.

Rumours proved true and Jedi from all corners of the Galaxy arrived at the Mudgeeraba Jedi Academy to ensure the assembled Padawans were instructed in the ways of the Force. Led by Jedi Master Jeadous Teal, JediMel, Gene Neon and Gene E-di demonstrated their skill to the excited Padawans.

Conditions in the Padawan Temple (hall) were as hot as Tatooine, and the troopers soon felt the heat. Luckily there was “Yoda Soda” and “Luke Skywater” to cool everyone down. Hoth Dogs, Jelly The Huts, Wookie Cookies, Vader Taters for refreshments, and this gathering even had a Death Star piñata and Yoda cake! Training completed, the Jedi retired to the Temple on Coruscant, and the Imperial troopers returned to the nearest Imperial outpost (a Mexican restaurant) to regroup and seek reinforcements.

Charity Funds Raised: $50 to the Make a Wish Foundation on behalf of the event requestor, with thanks to the Redback Garrison and 501st Legion.

Injuries: Nil though after the hall sauna we’re all chipping in to buy Blueski some fans for his bucket!

Public Incidents: Nil

Mission Status: A big success! While the gathering produced many new Jedi, there is a New Hope...some of the younglings may yet turn to the Dark Side, but for now, we can be satisfied to know that the legend of Star Wars lives on in downtown Mudgeeraba.

Special Thanks:
A huge shout out to cadet Alrakis (who wrangled GA JJ Vader) he makes life so much easier for a POC. He takes photos, keeps an eye out, chats to parents, gives out the new business cards and answers questions and is a great asset to any troop.

Also credit to RL Jedi Jeadous Teal (Redback cadet Darth Jadus) who stepped up and gave an excellent Jedi skills demonstration to the kids. He also brought along a double bladed purple sabre that had everyone ‘ooohing’ and ‘ahhing’.
