Cadets - Blue cards and trooping
#1
Cadets,

The Redback Garrison is very proactive in protecting both ourselves and those who we troop for. To this end and after discussions with some organisations we frequent attends childrens events for (mainly hospitals, Variety Club), we have taken the decision for events that involve children, RBG members require a valid Qld Govt issued Blue Card to attend.

It does not matter what role you are performing for these events - costume, wrangling or helper, you will still require a Blue Card.

In the troop details, it will say if a Blue Card is required or not but a rule of thumb is any event for our hospital partners (Starlight and the Wonder Factory) and special childrens events such as the 4KQ Variery Club Xmas party.

Blue Cards are not mandatory for joining the Garrison - but they are for attending events we do with children. We cannot afford to ruin the good reputation that the Redbacks/501st have built over the years, so if you think that down the track that you would troop events such as the hospitals etc, think about putting your application in for a Blue Card.

Our CO Kev Vader has the details on the procedure and can assist you with it. If you have any queries PM Kev.

Cheers
