Details:

Once again it was a colossal struggle between the Death Stars and the Emperor's XI.  Could the Death Stars make it four in a row???

Our crew set up for what would be an epic battle.  The sausage sizzle was well underway by the time the players hit the field.  This year we had the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Graeme Quirk come along and throw the first ball against the Death Star batsmen.  He did not disappoint with great line and length, but the Death Stars were up for the challenge knocking him over the park for a 4 and a 6.  Lord Mayor Quirk did show up previous Prime Ministers with his skill and I am sure he will be back for another go next year.

It was then on for young and old.  Runs were scored and wickets taken in a pace as blistering as the heat of the day.  The Death Stars setting a very respectable score of 5/115 with Cutter top scoring with 30 retired.  With the heat of the day increasing it looked like the Emperor's XI might get fried again.

Keen to make up for his previous years early exit Baytrooper led the charge with a great retired 44.  With some wickets falling quickly and Baytrooper forced to retire the Emps XI looked to be out of batting options.  That was until Chiro came to the crease and took up the challenge to steer the team to a great victory.  That's right folks the Emperor's XI finally got on the trophy!!!!!  Final score was 5/119 with (3 and a half overs to spare).

Then it was off to the pub for a beer and some more nibbles.

This again was a great event to start the year.  It is so social and fun.  We need more like it.

A massive thanks to Mammasith and her team of Pink Ladies that gave there time to make sure we could raise money through our sausage sizzle.  Mammasith is the driving force to make this event such a success.  The playing of the cricket is the fun part and Mammasith and the Pink Ladies miss that to do the hard work.  Thanks Kayle, you are awesome.

I look forward to having this event happen again next year.  I never see so many troopers smiling and having a good laugh at any other troop.  Even with the crazy heat we have to play in.

Thanks to all for a wonderful day.

Charity Funds Raised: $1715.85

Injuries / Malfunctions:  Lot's of armour bites and armour bits popping all day.  No major injuries.  Gaugerage did look like a beetroot after being out on the pitch and was ordered to dearmour.

Public Incidents: Nil.  Everyone that came only wanted to see greatness in action. Getting mobbed by tourists is an incident right?

Mission Status: Totally success. We'll be back bigger and better next year.

Photos: All over FB!!!!

Always a great kickoff event for the garrison. A load of issues to work through with moving PSD to a new school, but Mammasith and your many helpers delivered a great event. Well done all. Doppeldaumen1
