JOINING THE REDBACK GARRISON OR BUILDING AN ADDITIONAL COSTUME.
When you have decided on the costume you want you will need to start a 'Work In Progress' thread in the relevant sub-section of the 'Armoury' section on the forum. The purpose of this thread is to document your build by the posting of photos & details as you progress. You will be assigned an armourer who will be an expert on your chosen costume & who will be able to answer any questions you may have & advise & guide you through the build to completion via this thread. When your armourer gives you the OK you can submit your costume for 501st clearance via the Redback GML & CRC .
The key to making a Star Wars costume to the movie accurate standard we require is by doing a lot of research. You can check out the Costume Reference Library on the 501st Legion website for the details required for each costume: http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CRL
Also the 501st Legion comprises of detachments that each costume falls under & that have their own websites which hold a wealth of information about their respective costumes: http://www.501st.com/members/displayUnit...etachments
We advise potential new members to not outlay any money on a costume or costume parts until you have joined our forum & had the opportunity to speak to one of our Armourers. This allows us to help you ensure that you are investing your money wisely on costumes & costume parts that are good value & accurate enough to be clearable by the 501st.
The idea of this programme is to streamline the approval process with honest and constructive feedback and help from members that have proven their proficiency in those costumes , it will be supported by the experience and expertise of the GML and CRC team , a detailed build thread and adherence to feedback should provide a simple path to your costume being 501st approved .
