Bolt Builds an Imperial Military Officer (non-saga)
#1
This isn't really a build thread? More of a slow accumulation of parts.

I've been looking at a costume that I can wear while wrangling troopers and giving members of the public a tour of the turret.
I settled on the IMO (non-saga) as I can wear a poncho or a trench coat with it and maybe will go for an AT-AT Commander eventually!
Such a versatile costume.

CRL: https://crls.501st.com/ioc/imperial-mili...r-non-saga

Parts list:

Uniform: Hat, pants, tunic, gloves and belt are from KeepTrooping.
Boots: Dublin Universal tall boots. Polyurethane upper with rubber soles. (Bought from Horseland back in 2014).
Rank badge(s): Rogue One style Commander badge is from Rankbadger here in Aus (501st member), the Division Commander badge is from BlueMilkProps.
Holster and belt boxes: PhiloProps.
Poncho: Bowrider69PH (501st member).
Code cylinders: BlueMilkProps.

I gave everything a try-on for the first time last night, I am astonished by how nice the uniform felt to wear, KeepTrooping did a really good job. It does pay to go for their "blue lable" service and have it tailored.

The belt I am wearing is an old Tie pilot belt I had lying around, I have to punch a hole in the new belt yet.
Also have to steam the suit to get rid of the creases, I tried it on straight out of the box because I couldn't wait!

Here is what it looks like with the Rogue One poncho:

This combination comes from the landing platform scene in R1

Individual parts:

Code cylinders

I modified mine with a bolt, nut and rubber washers to add weight and grip them into the pockets so they don't fall out as easily.

Belt boxes. I wanted aluminium boxes instead of plastic ones. These are function too which is cool!

Rank badges: The R1 style Commander badge (also seen in Solo) is on pins and the Division Commander (seen in Mando season 2) is on magnets.
The blue buttons are different shades.. not sure if that is an issue or not for approvals.

MerrSonn Power 5 Blaster:

For the blaster I converted a beautiful, mint in box Tatooine Blaster from 1999. Not an absolutely perfect match to a real MerrSonn, but very close.

I designed and printed a muzzle for it, cleaned up the leaky battery inside, and modified the blaster to fit in the holster a bit better. A good coat of paint and some weathering and it was done!

Boots:

These are some Dublin Universal Tall boots. I think they should be approvable, but keen for some feedback.

Holster:

I used a steamer to shape the leather holster to fit the blaster properly, as it was a tight fit.

Belt:

The KeepTrooping belt comes with two discs (one with a notch and one without) and a tool to punch a hole.

Gloves:

Maybe not worth the price KeepTrooping charges.. but still pretty good. I think next time I would just get some army surplus gloves.

Hat:

Absolutely beautiful hat, fits me perfectly and has a leather sweat band built into it.

Tunic:

Beautiful tunic. It has padded shoulders, zip and hook closures, clips for the belt, a modesty panel behind the collar closure, soft lining and a good heft to it. Honestly I am very impressed by the quality. The Feldgrau green/grey colour feels spot on. The texture of the material is spot on too, a Cavalry Twill style weave.

Jodhpur Pants:

Comes with suspenders. Have lace-up bottoms and trim tabs on the back. Again, they feel like high quality suit pants and are amazingly comfortable.

Poncho:

The material surprised me as it kinda sounds like a plastic bag when it rustles haha. But this is the Rogue One version, and actually had to be functional for the actors on the landing pad and repel water. (Unlike the Andor version, which didn't have to be functional and was made from cotton).

And yes, it is very fun to walk around in!

Any tips, hints or comments are appreciated! I am just a Clone after all, and having a "face" costume is kinda scary after being in a helmet for 12 years!

You'll have to remember to look awake in this one. Looks good! The lace up pants are interesting, good idea for tall boots.

Thank you for all the comments!

-Will I stand in the rain? I totally want to, buuut I don't know if I want to get my hat wet hmm
-Yes, can't hide my face anymore ahh, the lace-up pants are kinda like WW2 American pants. Work very well.

I have submitted my approval pictures. Fingers crossed!

Put together the easiest prop ever for this costume!
In Andor, Season 1 Episode 6 "The Eye" we see some officers carrying a coffee mug, or "Caf tumbler".

[Image: 55403124559_5587f5fd1b_b.jpg]andor1x06_0367 by Luke Shadbolt, on Flickr

It is even included in the CRL for the IMO costume:

So I had to make one!
The original prop was an aquaphile brand 17oz mug. These are getting hard to find as they are discontinued in Australia and don't ship here direct. I probably could have got one if I tried hard enough, but with import tarrifs etc.. it got too expensive for just a coffee mug.
Luckily I found a knock-off version on ebay. It looks exactly the same!

Also on ebay, I found the automotive trim. This is applied on just one side of the mug to hide the brand name.

These both arrived in the mail (the mug's box was absolutely squashed.. but it survived luckily).

Trim!

The coffee mug
And very easily, just stick the silver trim onto one side, covering the logo.

Done!
Honestly this prop is so funny, on the same level as the Shoretrooper tray from the Mandalorian. So now I can legally troop with a coffee, it's in the CRL!
