I'm still debating to add the T fins as some of the pics of Dengar don't have them on his DLT-19. Thoughts fellow weapons enthusiasts?

My opinion....

Leave the fins off, and paint it for now. That way it's ready to use...

Later, add the black fins if you like....

win/win....

Leave them off, just found this.... Dengar's large blaster carbine was a modified MG-42 machine gun circa WWII. The folding bipod stand was removed from underneath the main barrel. The hook that held the bipod in the folded position was left in place and can be seen as a small protrusion in the picture below. The wooden stock on the back was also removed.

Note: In many pre-production still photos Dengar is pictured holding a BlasTech DLT-19 (a modified MG 34). This was not the gun he had in the film, but it was used by 4-LOM.

Thanks for that Crypto, I've seen that pic before. Will leave the fins off the '19. I'll finish the DLT-19 and then might start on MG-42 later.

Got Dengar and his sidearm to do, then finish off a non 501st costume to ,then the Wookie Bowcaster, then the MG-42. Will be hard to get the shape right for the squarish barrel. The '34 and 42 use a lot of the same parts so should be easy to do after making the '34. Just that barrel.Sus

I personally wouldn't worry about trying to get the barrel "squarish" I would just make sure to drill and file out the longer, rectangular holes in the barrel.

That alone would give it a different look to the Dlt_19.

Yes it is Hop, cheap and light. I'll be sanding it down to make it less roundish.

Crypto, I'll look around for something like that barrel, but won't be starting the MG-42 for a few months, plenty of time to work it out. Won't loose any sleep if I cannot find it, will go your idea as plan B.

If you add the T-racks along the barrel I think it would add more to it.
By this I mean it would be more futuristic, spacey, sci-fi & so forth.
Not having the T-racks to me make's it more for lack of better words, earth bound.
knowing there's not much difference between a MG-34 & the mods to make it a DLT-19 anyone who's in the know about such things especially WWII buffs with the MG will no doubt be like... wtf, that dude is sporting a MG-34 although in truth who cares about there opinions, lol.

I do like twolfs suggestion, see how she looks all dressed up & you can always add the t-racks at a later date.

Having found pix that support Dengar holding his DLT-19 without t-racks I think is more of the prop department's failure at consistency & no doubt time constraints ref filming, maybe editing sequences or who knows perhaps they just fell off.
Others might argue it's suppose to be a DLT-19 so it should have them even though there's pix of him without t-racks *shrugs*

Whatever you decide to go with Sniper it will be for the best, that sucker is still smoking anyways.
Be good if all those with BFG's could get a pix together @ DW.

Ok one of the final updates for this weapon. It's 99% finished, just need to replace the zip ties for black ones and to do some weathering. The Led lights are controled via remote kept in my pocket. No sound effects, might do that with the MG-42.
