Hasbro DH17

I'm playing around with modifying a couple of Hasbro DH17s. Sanding off the greeblies, painting the correct colour etc.

What do people normally do with the clear cover on the front of the scope? I can either paint it black and lose the laser light effect or leave it clear. But if I do that does anyone know how to remove the plastic cap so that I can paint the orange plastic underneath and then reattach it? Because it seems to be glued on fairly solidly ...

if i recall Beanie told me he made a hole and spray paint in to it.

I dremal'd mine off in the end, painted the inside orange part and then Zapagap'd it back on

Yep I cut mine off and painted the inside. Everyone i asked said its not coming off easily. You can use the clear plastic cap from a pump bottle (insect repellant, room freshener etc) to replace it. Looks good with the red light if you can keep it.

I've decided to mask it and paint it black and see if the bit of visible orange will annoy me. Considering it's just for Rory's GA Fleet Trooper it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I tried a hair dryer and dunking in boiling water (not at the same time) to loosen the glue, but no luck.

Silver paint was done today, will have to wait a day or two to do the black.

I've done both ways. I found the orange bugged me so I got mine cut off and painted inside for my personal RFT blaster. I did that for another one, but left 2 others with the orange as they are just props for kids/troops. I also left the nerf ##### spring thing (apologies if wrong terminology) as kids like playing with it. For my own gun I cut it off and added a D-ring but I can still pull out the spring. Terraform as gun is awesome as his D ring is right up against the gun. Mine sticks out an inch.

Yeah I plan on cutting off the nerf handle and replacing it with a D ring

Thats what everyone picks up on, if you don't cut it off!! I also used putty/bogged the end of the nerf handle so it looks solid when painted. Just looks neater.
