Bolt's Z-6 Rotary Cannon build

Today's progress!

Lots of little jobs done today. I painted and mounted the sight, the ammo mag and copper strips. So now it looks like this!

The Sight:
I removed the front part "C" and replaced it with a larger part. It just sits underneath the very front of the sight and the one I nailed in yesterday was a little small making it a bit wonky.

It has these nice 3d printed parts on the front:
These are like adding the stickers to a model kit that you have just built, they're the best bit!

Looking down the sight:

The rear cover:
This came up okay, but the copper coloured parts are too short! I will add a horizontal strip to the bottom to neaten it up later.

Cover removed:

The cover is held on with some cupboard magnetic catches:

The ammo mag:
Another lovely 3d printed part

The grip:
Looks like an alien! But you can see the (silver) main spin switch and two (red) sound triggers.

So that is all the major components attached to the blaster now, hence all the show-off photos today Smile That's it!!

Haha my dad was a cabinetmaker so I recognised those magnetic latches straight away. Nice use of them. Magnets are so handy.

Today's update/ Last few days!

I've been a little lazy over the last few days on doing another update, but here we go!

It's all little details now so I have added the copper coloured discs onto the handle:

Wondered why I never painted the ends/insides of my barrels? It's because I had yet to add the barrel tips, which are just some electrical conduit connectors with the ends and insides painted flat black:

And glued into the barrels with some 'blue glue':

The other details that I have added include the bolts that stick out the rotating plates. I didn't really feel like cutting the heads off of 12 big bolts so I just got some nuts and filled the center with some hot glue while they sat on a nice flat surface with baking paper on it:

Then when the glue dries, flip them over and the glue ends up shaped like the threaded end of a bolt:

Paint them up and stick them on and you get a nice effect:

I also glued on the rear fins:

I really like putting these little details on the blaster, they really set it off!

That's it!

Yep that's right! Both weathering and some little adjustments to the ribbed cover. Got to wait for the new paint in the post first though...

On my not very reliable scales it weighs in at about 7Kg... so between 6-7kg I would say. So heavy!

Good news! My Z-6 is finally complete!

The last coats of weathering and clear went on yesterday and today I suited up and took it for a "Spin" (pun intended ;P)

You may have noticed the Aurekbesh on the right side. I have christened my blaster "The Thunderbolt". A reference to the aircraft that carries largest minigun on the planet: the A-10 Thunderbolt II, and also a bit of a nod to my forum name Smile

And as always with first tests like this there was a few little things that need work. I found out that my AKER Amp doesn't hold charge for very long and that my chest piece is a lot stronger than the handle:

So some little fixes to do now!

[Image: received_242178012836813_zpsc2naigw9.jpeg]

But soon I will be hefting this big guy around the battle-zone!
I'm going to make a video of the spinning and sound later on, I will post it when I'm done.

That's it!

For what you've done, you've done it in a really short space of time. That's a great result. Can't wait to see the thing in action.
