Back from the Ether..

Hi Folks,
I am an old, once retired Star Wars collector, and general nut..

Now as I approach my 44th birthday, I am reliving my favourite past time, the world Star Wars etc... ( circa 1977-1982 versions)

It has been 15 years or more, and I have been so surprised by the quality of some of the collectables out there, especially the Master Replicas stuff...

I have question's.. I am about to try and import a number of Blasters and a Stormtrooper Kit etc etc..

1. Can you import the E11 Blasters from Master Replicas or Original Stormtroopers versions ? ( talking to customs now )

2. Who would be the best supplier for a complete Stormtroopers Kit, blaster included.

3. Love the 1:1 Scale stuff, is there any 1:1 toys I am missing out there I should take a look at.

Good to see you guys are very successful, was not much around in this area in the late 80's early 90's especially in Australia.. I thnk you maybe seeing lots from me here !!!

Thanks in advance,

Jasper the Freindly Arsehole.

1. there is a form you can fill in for importing replica weapons will try to find the link and post for you

2. don't know anyone that supplies a full kit. Head to the FISD site www.whitearmor.net for all things trooper related. There you can find out about the different suppliers and get the one thats right for your build

and Welcome Smile

Heres the weapon link

other options though are to do a pipe build or hasbro conversion yourself

Oooh you not a qlder.
Ok the 501st is broken up in to geographical regions. The Redback garrison where you are now is the qld group

You prob want to also jump on the terra Australia group forum as well as they cover Victoria

Feel free to come back and ask any questions here as well but when you get approved you will be a TAG member rather then a Redback

Hey Jasper,
Firearms Import & Ownership rules in VIC changed in June 2011 so you will need to go to the following link as you may need to apply for a "Chief Commissioners Prohibited Weapons Approval" :- www.police.vic.gov.au/retrievemedia.asp?media_id=70080.

Good luck with your TK kit, make sure you send us some pictures when your done.

Cheers
Craig

Yes I have that form on my desk, just seems soo over the top for just a SciFi Movie replica LOL>..
I have been talking to these guys http://www.jedi-robe.com/255,stormtroope...__pro.html

They have an entire setup for around $ 1300 Aussie, have any of you bought from here, if so how was the experience.

The other mob I have been in conact with is Original Stromtroopers.

Just a another FYI, I am constructing a full sized R2 Unit, using the AI from the Astromech 18" version. ( Masters in Elec Eng ) I will post my entire design and updates once I get more time.. had no idea that the community was this large and this motivated.. Fantastic !!

Thanks again guys .

I'd stay well clear.

Backed up by a post in another thread from muppet

Should I order my kit from them too. to be 501st approved?
No, its over prices Recasted FX armour

to elaborate ... there are standards that must be met to be approved in the 501st. These are all detailed in the CRL for the costume you want to get approved. Here is the link to the ANH Stunt TK (the armour I have)

http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt

You really need to buy a kit and build it to suit your own dimensions, any of these pre-fabricated getups just aren't going to fit, they are going to look rubbish, be painful to wear and 99% unlikely to get approved.

Thanks Guys, you guys have all the good info...

Bullant, as the jedi robe mob appear to be dodgy and over priced, can you recommend a manufacturer ?

As I do not have much time for building one, and the outfit will be mounted on a mannequin in my man cave 90% of the time, is there any you could recommend that have the quality fit and finish I am looking for ?? Also I am hoping these guys you recommend can use a tape measure as well as my tailor Wink

Thanks again guys,

Jasper

PS Trying to get on the Terror Australis Group page, but no one home to Auth me... I guess you guys are the most active group in Australia ??

There are a few manufacturers that are recommended. Hopefully you have access to this thread:

It might be worth having a read of this as well:

Buying a TK is not something you want to jump into quickly and without doing lots of reading. I read threads for a week solid before even joining these forums! I don't believe you will find a supplier who will make a TK "to order" the way you would order a suit or shirt. There are so many components to a TK that you really need to build it around the person who is going to wear it. It might sound like a lot of work, and it is, but it is worth the sense of pride and satisfaction of wearing something that you know you have created yourself.

If you are set on a TK, then it is also worthwhile reading through the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment forums (home to the TK detachment)

Yeah definitely don't touch either of these. Jedi-robe are overpriced recasts, and there is a legal battle going on with the other, again a recast.

Good advice from Bullant here. FISD is your best place for research on the various recommended makers of Trooper Armor.
I know TM builds armor if you supply dimensions, but there can be quite a wait.
Besides the building is 1/2 the fun and it's a great feeling the first time you troop armor that you've assembled to suit you perfectly. It's really not that hard once you get past the first cut anxiety, and you'll have plenty of help and advice from both your local Garrison and the FISD Community.

Good luck with your research.

Thanx Guys,

Impressed with the community so far... you all should apply for IT Support jobs LOL, Bigpond could do with some positive help Smile

I am just starting to realise the other side of the Stormtrooper experience, as you all seem to have had great satisfaction modifying and building your own suits. I just have this Chevy project in my garage that is soaking up all my time LOL.. but given what I have seen today, I will continue my research, until I find exactly what I want. ( what I want is changing as you are educating me LOL )

Thanks again guys.. FYI my Cheif Commisioners Prohibited Weapons App went in an hour ago, heres hoping all's OK as I have 6 Master Replica Blasters on Deposit, with 4.5K hangin' in the wind Wink Will post pics etc, once they have arrived, and displayed in my Star Wars Themed 12.5sq Man Cave, even have the pillars for the Show Cases painted and ready, and a full wall M.Falcon wall print going up on the weekend... I feel so 25 again !!!! ( don't tell the wife )

Cheers,

Jasper
